Stephen Alfers
Executive Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
Steve Alfers has a distinguished thirty year career in the domestic and international natural resources industry. He has a proven success record in building value and maximizing growth. Mr. Alfers has extensive experience in private and public corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, complex international business transactions and governmental affairs. He is nationally and internationally recognized for his expertise in natural resource development, privatization of state owned enterprises and foreign investment. Mr. Alfers is a results driven leader, committed to increasing shareholder value through disciplined management and integrity.
Barry Honig
Director
Mr. Honig has been the President of GRQ Consultants, Inc. since January 2004, is a private investor and consultant to early stage companies, and sits on the boards of several private companies. Mr. Honig serves on Pershing Gold’s Board of Directors due to his success as an investor, extensive knowledge of the capital markets, and his judgment in assessing business strategies. Mr. Honig previously served as Co-Chairman of Chromadex (OTCBB:CDX.QX) and as founder and Co-Chairman of InterCLICK, Inc., which was sold to Yahoo in 2011 for $280 million.
Alex Morrison
Director
Mr. Morrison is a mining executive, chartered accountant and certified public accountant with over 26 years of experience in the mining industry. He currently serves on the boards of Detour Gold Corporation and Taseko Mines Limited. Mr. Morrison has held senior executive positions at a number of mining companies, most recently serving as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Franco-Nevada Corporation from 2007 to 2010. From 2002 to 2007, Mr. Morrison held increasingly senior positions at Newmont Mining Corporation, including Vice President, Operations Services and Vice President, Information Technology. Prior to that, Mr. Morrison was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NovaGold Resources, Inc. and Vice President and Controller at Homestake Mining Company and held senior financial positions at Phelps Dodge Corporation and Stillwater Mining Company. Mr. Morrison began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP after obtaining his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Trinity Western University.
Ed Karr
Director
Mr. Karr is based in Geneva, Switzerland and has more than 20 years of capital markets experience as a financial analyst, money manager and investor. He is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of three private Swiss financial management companies; Strategic Asset Management SA, Strategic Swiss Advisors Sarl and Rampartners SA. His former capital markets experience includes positions at Parthian Securities, SA, Prudential Securities Inc., and Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc.
Pamela Saxton
Director
Ms. Saxton is a business executive with over 35 years of progressive domestic and international public company finance roles primarily in mining, software and oil and gas. Ms. Saxton has proven results in United States and Canadian public company corporate governance and compliance, raising debt and equity capital, strategic planning, advancing and implementing new initiatives, mergers and acquisitions and management of finance, treasury, tax, risk management, procurement, information technology and accounting functions. She currently serves as Vice President and Trustee for the Viola Vestal Coulter Foundation, which provides scholarships to various colleges and universities, with a focus on mining. She is also the Past Chair of the Board for the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry, a state chamber of commerce. Ms. Saxton has held senior executive positions at various mining companies including Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc., Franco-Nevada Corporation, New West Gold Corporation, Cyprus Amax Minerals Company, and Amax Gold Inc. Ms. Saxton also was the Vice President of Finance, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer for J.D. Edwards & Company. Ms. Saxton began her career with Arthur Andersen & Company after obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Colorado.
