Steve Alfers has a distinguished thirty year career in the domestic and international natural resources industry. He has a proven success record in building value and maximizing growth. Mr. Alfers has extensive experience in private and public corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, complex international business transactions and governmental affairs. He is nationally and internationally recognized for his expertise in natural resource development, privatization of state owned enterprises and foreign investment. Mr. Alfers is a results driven leader, committed to increasing shareholder value through disciplined management and integrity.
Mr. Honig has been the President of GRQ Consultants, Inc. since January 2004, is a private investor and consultant to early stage companies, and sits on the boards of several private companies. Mr. Honig serves on Pershing Gold’s Board of Directors due to his success as an investor, extensive knowledge of the capital markets, and his judgment in assessing business strategies. Mr. Honig previously served as Co-Chairman of Chromadex (OTCBB:CDX.QX) and as founder and Co-Chairman of InterCLICK, Inc., which was sold to Yahoo in 2011 for $280 million.
Mr. Morrison is a mining executive, chartered accountant and certified public accountant with over 26 years of experience in the mining industry. He currently serves on the boards of Detour Gold Corporation and Taseko Mines Limited. Mr. Morrison has held senior executive positions at a number of mining companies, most recently serving as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Franco-Nevada Corporation from 2007 to 2010. From 2002 to 2007, Mr. Morrison held increasingly senior positions at Newmont Mining Corporation, including Vice President, Operations Services and Vice President, Information Technology. Prior to that, Mr. Morrison was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NovaGold Resources, Inc. and Vice President and Controller at Homestake Mining Company and held senior financial positions at Phelps Dodge Corporation and Stillwater Mining Company. Mr. Morrison began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP after obtaining his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Trinity Western University.
Mr. Karr is based in Geneva, Switzerland and has more than 20 years of capital markets experience as a financial analyst, money manager and investor. He is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of three private Swiss financial management companies; Strategic Asset Management SA, Strategic Swiss Advisors Sarl and Rampartners SA. His former capital markets experience includes positions at Parthian Securities, SA, Prudential Securities Inc., and Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc.
D. Scott Barr
Mr. Barr has more than 35 years of metallurgical and mine operations experience. He was formerly an executive at Newmont Mining Corporation ("Newmont") where he was most recently involved with independent reviews and financial decisions for various Newmont projects. Additionally, while at Newmont he was responsible for technical, project and operations management globally, with a specific emphasis on gold and copper deposits in Nevada, Ghana, Australia, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Peru, and Bolivia. Mr. Barr was also the Executive Vice President/COO and Technical Advisor at Golden Star Resources Ltd., a mid-tier gold producer with operations in Ghana. His significant operations experience in Nevada includes leadership positions with Independence Mining Company (previously Freeport Gold Co.) where he was Vice President & General Manager, Chief Metallurgist and Vice President of Process Operations.
Mr. Barr holds a M.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering from the Mackay School of Mines from the University of Nevada, Reno and B.S. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering and Chemical Engineering from the University of Idaho. He has served as a director on the board of Seabridge Gold Inc, since 2011, is an MMSA-Qualified Person, and is currently a member of SME, CIM, MMSA and AICHE.
